Buchanan E-Mail has developed the rich voices process - an innovative method of online consultation which overcomes many of the problems associated with traditional forms of eliciting the opinions, the ideas and the suggestions of the citizen/consumer.

• Using asynchronous email conferencing, participants work in small groups, to identify, develop and expand relevant issues and concerns.

• Participation takes place at a time and a place to suit the individual and is conducted in a supportive environment in which the contributions of all group members are enabled.

• Group composition can reflect like interests covering a wide geographic area or a diverse range of interests applied to a single policy issue.

• Participants can contribute anonymously and all groups are enabled to work together towards the development of an action plan which can include the use of locally existing skills and resources.
